Advanced Engineering Programs

Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
Academic Centre – Secondary Level (Grades 10–12)

Program Overview

The Advanced Engineering Programs at Nasser Centre for Science and Technology (NCST) are specialized secondary-level technical programs designed to prepare students for advanced engineering studies, professional practice, and industry readiness.

These programs follow internationally recognized Pearson BTEC Level 3 qualifications and combine strong academic foundations, intensive practical training, and engineering problem-solving, enabling students to graduate with both a Ministry of Education Secondary Certificate and a globally recognized engineering diploma.

Program Aim

The Advanced Engineering Programs aim to develop highly skilled, technically competent engineering graduates who are capable of:

  • Progressing to university degrees in Engineering and Technology
  • Applying engineering principles in real industrial environments
  • Meeting international standards of safety, quality, and professionalism

Advanced Mechanical Engineering Program

Program Description

The Advanced Mechanical Engineering Program prepares students for careers and higher education in mechanical and industrial engineering fields. The program focuses on mechanical systems, maintenance, diagnostics, and applied engineering design, supported by extensive laboratory work and industry-aligned practices.

Students gain experience in working with mechanical components, power transmission systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and maintenance procedures, preparing them for both academic and applied engineering pathways.

Program Structure (3 Years)

Grade 10:

  • Engineering foundations
  • Engineering mathematics and physics
  • Introduction to mechanical systems
  • Workshop safety and tools

Grade 11:

  • Mechanical maintenance principles
  • Engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance
  • Applied laboratory training

Grade 12:

  • Advanced mechanical systems
  • Plant and equipment maintenance
  • Capstone engineering project
  • Industry exposure and work placement

Learning Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:

  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to real-world problems

Advanced Electrical Engineering Program

Program Description

The Advanced Electrical Engineering Program equips students with in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, control systems, and industrial maintenance. The program emphasizes electrical safety, diagnostics, system testing, and applied engineering solutions.

Students work with motors, generators, transformers, control circuits, and industrial electrical systems, preparing them for advanced engineering studies or technical careers.

Program Structure (3 Years)

Grade 10:

  • Electrical fundamentals
  • Engineering mathematics and physics
  • Electrical safety and tools
  • Basic circuit design

Grade 11:

  • Electrical machines and systems
  • Power distribution and control circuits
  • Electrical testing and diagnostics
  • Applied laboratory work

Grade 12:

  • Control and instrumentation systems
  • Capstone engineering project

General Engineering Programs

Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

Program Overview

The General Engineering Programs at NCST are vocational-focused secondary-level programs designed for students who prefer hands-on, applied learning pathways. These programs emphasize practical engineering skills, workplace readiness, and industry competence, while still allowing progression to higher education.

They are aligned with Pearson BTEC Level 2 qualifications and focus on technical skills, safety, and employability.

Program Aim

The General Engineering Programs aim to produce skilled, job-ready graduates who:

  • Possess strong practical engineering skills
  • Are prepared for vocational employment or apprenticeships
  • Can progress to advanced technical programs

General Mechanical Engineering Program

Program Description

The General Mechanical Engineering Program focuses on mechanical fitting, assembly, maintenance, and workshop practices. Students develop essential hands-on skills using industry tools and equipment while learning to follow technical instructions and safety procedures.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:

  • Perform basic mechanical assembly and fitting tasks
  • Use hand tools and machinery safely
  • Follow engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Conduct routine inspection and maintenance activities

General Electrical Engineering Program

Program Description

The General Electrical Engineering Program prepares students for practical electrical work involving basic wiring, electrical installations, testing, and maintenance. Emphasis is placed on safety, compliance, and applied electrical skills.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:

  • Construct and test basic electrical circuits
  • Perform routine electrical maintenance tasks
  • Identify electrical components and systems
  • Apply electrical safety regulations
  • Support electrical installation and troubleshooting work
